To meet wishes of its customers and partners, Akeneo created a new version for its PIM, available in both Community Edition and Enterprise Edition. Improvements focus on productivity in the PIM user interface, and management efficiency on products and products with variants.

A products with variants management improved

  • As for products exports, it’s now possible to filter exported data for products model attributes. There is a new “content” tab to export data by canal, regional parameters, categories, families and so on… other attributes can be added. Also, in the “global parameters” tab, there is a new option to export files or images.
  • Some actions are faster : for example, a variants family can be deleted from products with variants parameters. It’s also possible to delete products or product models on backend, and so you can continue to work on the PIM at the same time.
  • In the Enterprise Edition, it’s possible to manage rules on product models. This new feature allows you to create attributes rules from the product model level. It’s also possible to create a specific import for products model with rules, or to find products or product models via the research module according to this rules.

A proposal grid improved (only for Enterprise Edition)

Thanks to those attributes filters, using the proposal grid is easier. Users can make research on products names or labels directly on the proposal grid, and filter to have a quick overview of proposed product changes.

Expected productivity improvement

  • A new mass action on attribute values saves time. New data are added instead of replacing existing ones. It’s no longer necessary to go through the products export/update/import phases via an Excel or CSV file.

  • Users can now define and view their timezone, which let them know when last updates has been made.
  • Location of the attribute group selection and attribute group name has been mooved. They are now visible from everywhere in the page even if the user goes down the page.
  • Previously available with an extention from the Marketplace, the “classification rules” bundle will be included in the Akeneo 2.2 Enterprise Edition. This bundleallows you to delete or remove products from everywhere in the tree. This is quite a big improvement for archiving products. Also, it will be possible to define a rule for archiving just the product or the product plus its children.
